While visiting Boston I suggest you take a few steps off of the Freedom Trail and visit one of Boston's little known treasures, The New England Holocaust Memorial. Located in Carmen Park on Congress Street near Faneuil Hall, this memorial touched me deeply.
In our quest to stay off the beaten path, we chose Cape Ann Massachusetts over Cape Cod as our weekend getaway. Cape Ann is a rocky peninsula off the Atlantic Ocean, about 30 miles from Boston Massachusetts. It consists of the towns of Rockport, Essex, Manchester-by-the-Sea and Gloucester.
Seafood lovers hurry To Bayou On The Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island! Located at Misquamicut Beach, Bayou on the Beach is a little shanty across the street from the beach. It is the type of place with an outside deck that you can enjoy while still wearing your bathing suit, if you like. I recently spent the day at Misquamicut, with my daughter and after a delight-full time of swimming and enjoying the beautiful blue sky of Rhode Island, we showered and were ready for a seafood dinner.
A trip to Boston promises more out of the ordinary activities in a day than almost any major city can boast. Some of the things to do in Boston include walking the Freedom Trail, a visit to Americas oldest tavern, or viewing breathtaking art created by masters old and new. No matter what you are looking for Boston has the attraction.
My favorite unique Boston-area attraction and one that I recommend to tourists looking for something a little out of the ordinary in the Boston area is the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park. Located just off route 95 in beautiful Lincoln, Massachusetts, the museum is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Boston and is open year-round during daylight hours.
