Seafood lovers hurry To Bayou On The Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island! Located at Misquamicut Beach, Bayou on the Beach is a little shanty across the street from the beach. It is the type of place with an outside deck that you can enjoy while still wearing your bathing suit, if you like. I recently spent the day at Misquamicut, with my daughter and after a delight-full time of swimming and enjoying the beautiful blue sky of Rhode Island, we showered and were ready for a seafood dinner.
We ordered clam chowder of course. It was so full of fresh clams that you could stand your spoon up in it. We followed that with traditional Rhode Island fried clam cakes, fresh and delicious. My entree was fried shrimp. I have never seen such jumbo shrimp, fresh off the boat and gently hand-battered in corn meal. My daughter had fried scallops that were freshly caught, sweet and juicy. These were served with fresh battered fries and home-made coleslaw. Bayou also has steak, prime rib and barbecue at modest prices. Our total bill was just over thirty dollars for two people. They serve beer,hard-lemonade and homemade iced tea.
Bayou on the Beach is family friendly, and a wonderful alternative to a fast-food restaurant. A great day trip to the beach whether you are a swimmer or not, you will definitely return home relaxed and refreshed, and with a full tummy.

Open only weekends, first weekend in May through Memorial Day (weather permitting), open memorial day through Labor Day 7 days a week, Hours: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Take Interstate Rte. 95 South, to Rte. 4 South, to Rte.1 South, to Westerly, follow signs to Misquamicut State Beach.
